Nico Rosberg feels it is tough to be quicker than Michael
Schumacher – Formula 1 news
Mercedes’ driver, Nico Rosberg, has said that it is still very tough for him to be quicker than his team-mate, Michael Schumacher on the circuit. Rosberg had fine race events in China and Turkey, after a disappointing start to the 2011 season.
Despite of his performance in the race, the German admitted that Schumacher is a much better and strong driver than him. He added that the seven-time world champion still has the ability to fight strongly on the grid.
Rosberg added, "He is and remains the most successful racing driver of all time. I have to work hard in every practice session. For me, everything must fit together in order to stay ahead. I'm happy that it has worked well so far against him. But I also
know that at the next race it may be different."
After his three-year retirement, Schumacher’s fans expected podium positions from him, because of his race victories and world titles in the past. The 42-year-old driver was unhappy after returning back on the Formula 1 grid, as he claims that his return
to the sport has not been positive for him.
Schumacher kicked-off the 2011 season with a poor start. He is still unable to gather his best run on the race track, against the strong contenders of the sport. After a collision with Renault’s driver, Vitaly Petrov, he again ended his disappointing race
on the grid in Turkey.
Despite of his poor performance in the ongoing season, Schumi has received full backing from the Petronas-sponsored team after Istanbul’s race, because the team considers that he is still capable to produce up-beat runs in his races.
There were speculations after the race that Schumacher did not enjoy his outing with Mercedes GP, along with the Turkish race weekend which also did not deliver ‘big joy’ to him. The team might be forced to re-think their driver’s position in the up-coming
races of the 2011 season.
Mercedes motorsport boss, Norbert Haug said, “When success is missing, then criticism is a fact of life. When, a seven-time world champion like Michael Schumacher doesn't achieve success, criticism rains down upon him.”
The team believes in both their drivers, Rosberg and Schumacher. The German again finished his fifth place in the Turkish Grand Prix, after China’s race. Due to the Rosberg’s upbeat progress in the recent race, Mercedes is just focusing to achieve their
main goals.
On the other hand, a struggling driver, Schumacher is eager to make his return on the race track in the next Spanish Grand Prix, taking place on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Spain.
