Nico Rosberg feels pleased with W03 after practice sessions of 2012 Monaco GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is feeling pleased with the performance of W03 after the free Thursday practice sessions of 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco.
Rosberg set the sixth best time of 1 minute and 17.021 seconds in FP2 and covered 15 laps. Afterwards, he expressed his delight and said that they have made progress for the upcoming race.
“I'm pleased with today's practice sessions,” said Rosberg. “We have the feeling that we are going in the right direction with our set-up work for this demanding track. It took a bit of a time to find the right rhythm for the circuit but it worked out well,
even though we did not run very much in afternoon because of the bad weather. I'm now really looking forward to Saturday and Sunday.”
The German driver is currently on 7th position in the drivers’ championship with 41 points. Furthermore, he is 6 points ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus and 4 points behind Jenson Button of McLaren.
In the first two races of the season he could not score even a single point and finished at 12th and 13th places. Nevertheless, he took his maiden victory in the third race held at Shanghai International Circuit in China after claiming his first ever pole.
In the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he came 5th after setting off from the same grid position.
Later, in the fifth race at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, he secured 7th position after he qualified for 6th place in the grid. Over and above, he is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching race.
On the other hand, his teammate, Michael Schumacher also admired the efforts which the team has made in the season so far.
“The weather was mixed today, which made it hard to make any firm conclusions, but basically my feeling with the car on this circuit was positive,” he said.
Besides, the seven-time world champion also appreciated the steps which have been taken to improve the safety of drivers on Monaco track as compared to the preceding year.
