Nico Rosberg happy with W03’s improved balance ahead of 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is very happy with the improved balance of his car, W03 after the free Friday practice of the 2012 Italian Grand Prix.
Rosberg came third in the timesheets in the first practice session in which his teammate, Michael Schumacher stood at the top. Later on, he set the fifth best time in FP2 and seemed very comfortable behind the wheel of his car. Furthermore, he effectively
gathered the essential information regarding the car’s update package.
The veteran German driver struggled during the Belgian GP and could not score even a single point as he came 11th in the charts. Nevertheless, he has asserted that he is feeling much better with the car at Autodromo di Monza and is aiming to attain
good result on the race day.
“Yeah it was generally a quite good start, definitely better than Spa,” Rosberg said. “Of course we don't want to be too optimistic just because of today as it's a Friday, but it feels a lot better to drive and the balance is better.”
“Everything is a little bit better, braking is a little bit better, the balance in all those long- and medium-speed corners is better. It makes it all the more enjoyable then because in Spa the balance wasn't right and it feels good so I think it's possible
to do a lot of points this weekend,” he added.
It will be important to note that the Brackley based team has been facing tyre management issues in the season so far. Meanwhile, Rosberg insisted that they are not completely sure which strategy will prove out to be the best at Monza.
In addition, he said that tyre handling will surely play a crucial role in the race ahead. He also said that they are not sure whether they will go for one pit stop or two during the forthcoming race, nevertheless, he said that they are trying their best
to be competitive and will show up according to the circumstances.
