Nico Rosberg hopes to improve in the next two races of the season – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg is hoping for better conditions that will suit the Mercedes in the next two races.
Mercedes found it hard to manage the tyres at the Spanish Grand Prix but Rosberg is hoping for that to change soon. During the Spanish Grand Prix the German finished seventh using a three-stop strategy.
“For us, it was a difficult weekend, just with tyre management really. Even in qualifying, just overheating the tyres, and that was why we were struggling more than some other teams, especially someone like Williams. It was the same in the race,” he said.
Rosberg claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory in China and since has been trying to keep up the momentum and win some more races for his team. Mercedes has so far looked impressive in the qualifiers but have failed to project those performances into successful
race day showing bar the Chinese Grand Prix.
Michael Schumacher has been struggling despite a good car and has recently blamed the Pirelli tyres of making it difficult for him in the races. So far Schumacher has retired three times of the five races of the season.
The Spanish Grand Prix saw Schumacher end his race crashing into Bruno Senna which coincidentally according to Senna was due to the different conditions of tyres of the two cars.
“I only lost two points on the championship lead, which is good, and I am still only 20 points away so it's still open,” he said. “As long as we can push on and improve, hopefully the conditions in Monaco and Montreal will favour us again. It's possible,
it's just very difficult to understand how the next race is going to be so we'll just have to wait and see.”
Mercedes look strong and are working hard to come up with performances so that they can remain in contention of the Constructors’ Championship and the Drivers Championship. The season so far has seen five different drivers of five different teams and that
has allowed the top five teams to remain in contention. The next two races will be imperative in deciding at least the top three slots.
