Nico Rosberg looking to ‘annoy’ Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg has claimed that he will be looking to upset Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel in the upcoming races of the 2013 Formula 1 season.
According to the Mercedes driver, “Short-term I just want to annoy Sebastian and Red Bull race-to-race by being ahead of them. That's the most important thing, to be ahead of them and other teams and try to win more races. That's what we're focused on at
the moment.”
Although Rosberg had to wait for plenty of years to bring up his maiden victory in the sport, he seems to have the right car at the moment, which can allow him a chance to fight with the best in the business. He has already won a couple of races in the ongoing
season, which shows that he has the ability to trouble rivals with consistency.
Heading into the German GP, the 28-year-old driver is pretty sure that he will be strong in terms of both qualifying and race pace. He was unable to deliver solid results at the start of the season, but has made up a lot of places to be recognised as a potential
threat to title contenders Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.
When asked about his chances in the championship, Rosberg said, “It's too early to say that. We're really focusing on getting our momentum, keeping it going and concentrating on one race to the next to get the most out of them - just as we have done in the
last couple of races. Then we will see in a few races time. It's a really nice time in my career.”
Despite all the criticism from rival teams, Mercedes have come a long way in the championship and are definitely going to fight for solid points with consistency because of the fact that they have now got on top of their tyre problems.
The Brackley based team has got a clear advantage over others, when it comes to a single-lap pace, so they are likely to dominate the qualifiers in Germany. However, they will have to watch out for the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers on race day, as they will
cause plenty of problems on high fuel runs.
