Nico Rosberg may be overshadowed by Lewis Hamilton in 2013 – Formula 1
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is going to race as Lewis Hamilton’s teammate in 2013 and it is very much expected that he may be overshadowed by the performance of the British driver who is a better racing driver than him.
Hamilton’s contract with McLaren is going to end at the conclusion of this season and he has signed a new contract with the Brackley based team for the coming year in which he will be replacing Michael Schumacher who has planned to take retirement at the
end of this year.
It has been reported that the 2008 world champion will receive a preferential treatment in the Silver Arrows as compared to the German driver. However, the team principal of Mercedes, Ross Brawn has said that they are going to treat both their drivers equally.
Furthermore, he said that the Briton has never mentioned anything about how he wants to be treated in the team during the contract negotiations and asserted that he is very excited about the new challenge.
“Lewis never asked for any priority at all, he just asked for equality,” Brawn told
Autosport. “He was pleasant in that he had no desires to have any special treatment or any unique facilities. Lewis just expects to have an equal opportunity in the team, as we would like to do as well.”
“The conversation was relatively short in that area and I was impressed that he was positive enough to take that view and not attempt to protect some sort of position which would have been quite difficult for the team to accept,” he added.
In addition, he said that they have full confidence in their next year’s driver line-up and expressed that they want to take their team to new heights in the future.
Despite Brawn’s clarifications, chances still prevail that Hamilton will get preference over the 27-year-old as he has achieved much more in his career so far and has always been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the world of F1.
Nonetheless, Rosberg has said that he is ready for challenge and it will be interesting to see how they both perform in the coming season.
