Nico Rosberg not confident ahead of 2012 Belgian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is not feeling confident about the updates which his team is planning to come up with in the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix, to be held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
Rosberg admired the track of the next race and expressed that he has always enjoyed racing at the circuits like Spa. Furthermore, he said that the track of the forthcoming race is extremely fast and he expects a tough battle there amongst all the contenders.
“Spa is a great track, it’s very fast and that’s what a F1 car is about, going fast. It’s a track that I enjoy going to,” said Rosberg.
However, when he was asked about the upgrades which the Brackley based team has planned to launch in the upcoming race to improve the pace of W03, his response was not quite optimistic. He said that he is expecting a difficult race in Belgium. Nonetheless,
he said that his hopes are high for the Italian and Singapore Grands Prix for which they will be more prepared.
“No, not really. I think Spa is probably gonna be a little more difficult again for us but I’m hoping for better in Monza and Singapore,” the Mercedes driver said.
The veteran German driver has shown some performances in the season until now. He claimed his maiden race victory in the Chinese GP after securing his first ever pole position. Moreover, with his win, he brought his team a great delight after a long time.
At present, he is standing at sixth position in the drivers’ rankings and has been one of the most consistent point scorers in the first half of the season.
Over and above, it will be interesting to mention that he felt immensely pleased to become more experienced driver in the sport as compared to his father, Keke Rosberg who won the 1982 Formula 1 World Championship.
“It’s nice because now if he tries to give me advices I can say ‘Hey, I have more experience than you.’ But he’s very supportive and happy that it’s going well for me,” he added.
