Nico Rosberg of Mercedes GP says they need to learn about problems as a team – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has said that the team needs to work together and learn about its car’s problems.
He believes that no one is to be blamed for the fuel miscalculation which disabled his chances of winning the Chinese Grand Prix this past weekend.
Rosberg led the race for a noticeable amount of time even though he was the first one to make a pit stop out of all the top running drivers of the race. However, the German struggled to maintain his pace and due to the miscalculation of his fuel load, he
had to drive carefully and nurse his car to the finish line.
Rosberg is aware that he could have scored a lot more points but says that no one can be blamed for the miscalculation.
“The race on Sunday really was one of the most exciting Grands Prix that I've ever driven. It took some time after the race to let everything sink in because I had high hopes for a good podium result, and I had led for a quarter of the race. However I can't
blame anybody in the team for having been short on fuel, it's a lesson that we learn together,” said Rosberg.
The team had an unimpressive start to the 2011 Formula 1 season as the both of its drivers retired out of the season opening race in Australia. Both Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were unable to perform well at the following Malaysian Grand Prix as
well. However, they put up a much-improved performance at the Chinese Grand Prix and finished amongst points.
“We have to be happy that we made a step forward in China which was achieved by everyone in the team working extremely hard. My attitude is always that we win together and we lose together as one team,” said Rosberg.
Rosberg says that the team should be happy with its progress and they should work even harder before heading in for the Turkish Grand Prix which would be the first of the European phase of the 2011 Formula 1 season. Let’s see if Mercedes manage to do that
in three weeks time in Istanbul.
