Nico Rosberg plans Mercedes race victory – Formula 1 Update
After the successful race in China, Formula 1 Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is busy planning for his team’s race victory in the 2011 season. Despite the fuel consumption issue during the Shanghai race, he is pleased with his recent performance and looking
forward to his pole position in the remaining races of this season.
The 25-year-old driver visited a fast food restaurant on Wednesday, April 27, where he enjoyed his time and said, "I have nothing against pizzas either I think after this I won't eat anything for two days!"
Rosberg seemed a little bit angry with his team. He added that when he was driving with a potential of winning the Shanghai race, the team asked him to driver slowly, as he informed them about the car running out of fuel. He further added that he felt like
crying, as he had never experienced these types of things before in his career.
The German driver went on to admit, “I was not first but fifth and I had to be alone for a few minutes afterwards. The first two races were not easy at all. After the tests we thought we would keep up with the best and now after Shanghai I believe it again.”
Mercedes’ 2011 new car pace in China race was much faster than expectations, as their driver completed his excellent run among the strong rivals of Formula 1. The German was the fifth fastest runner of the race. In the end of the race, ten supportive points
made the team confident for up-coming races of the season.
Rosberg’s team-mate, Michael Schumacher finished with his best run over the winter testing of 2011 season, but could not make a good start this year. Petronas-sponsored team had disappointing race events in Australia and Malaysia, since they experienced
technical issues in their cars.
In the recent race, seven-time World Champion, Schumacher was also busy with his team-mate, struggling for his team’s podium position, but due to the fuel consumption issue in his MGP-W02 machine, he could not mange his best run on the grid.
After the China race, Rosberg praised the excellent performance of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, as he put his team on the top podium spot.
He also discussed both the Australian and Malaysian race winner, Sebastian Vettel and said, "The car has winning potential now. I remember in China seeing Vettel in the mirrors and thinking that in two laps he would put me behind. But he didn't. The team
has done a great job, but falling into euphoria now would be wrong. Sebastian doesn't have to worry too much yet.”
After the China race, Mercedes is looking forward to improving in the race weekends of the 2011 season. Rosberg is confident that he will put up a good show in the upcoming race, to be held in Turkey, on May 8, 2011.
