Nico Rosberg praises team effort for the win at the Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg has said that his maiden victory is due to the work put in by the whole team to make Mercedes a winning unit.
He added that winning the Chinese Grand Prix was an unbelievable feeling but he remains focussed on the job at hand and hopes to make even more progress and the season moves ahead.
Rosberg took part in 110 races without a win but the win at the Chinese Grand Prix was Rosberg’s form beginning to finish. The German finished at the top in the qualifiers securing the pole position. The qualifiers were so good that his teammate Michael
Schumacher praised him for his performance. It was almost a perfect show of well judged driving.
Rosberg began his race on Sunday where he left off on Saturday, at the front and leading the rest. Only Jenson Button gave him a stiff challenge but in the final stages of the race, Button had to take a pit stop, as the Brit was ready to get out of the pits,
his car got stuck in the rear jack and lost valuable seconds in the race. Button was not able to catch Rosberg in sublime driving form.
“It's an unbelievable feeling,” Rosberg said. “Very cool, very happy, very excited, and it's been a long time coming for me. And for the team also; the past two years and a bit and now it's finally there so it's just amazing. It's just really nice to see
also how quickly we are now progressing. I didn't expect to be that fast today, I expected that we had a good chance to be in front but I'm very happy with the pace that I was able to go in the race.”
Rosberg thanked his whole team and praised the effort put in by the engineers and said that they have all been working hard especially in the last few weeks to improve on the setup they have built. The team struggled in the first two races but the team has
managed to come up with everything right in the race and it is amazing how fast the team has been able to progress.
