Nico Rosberg says Mercedes destined for success – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that they are one of the most prominent teams in the world of Formula 1 and are meant to be successful while the reports about McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton joining the Brackley based team in 2013 keep on coming.
Sam Michael, the sporting director of McLaren said that they are at the advance level of negotiation with Hamilton while on the other hand, the British driver has played down the ongoing speculations in this regard.
Furthermore, when Rosberg was asked to give his views that whether Mercedes will be a good option for the 2008 world champion, he replied that even though they are not as successful as McLaren are, right now, but they will soon be at a very good spot in
the near future.
“Mercedes is one of the most prestigious teams in F1 and destined for success also,” Rosberg said. “They're going flat out with making everything right so that we become the best team in F1 and that's going to happen, so it's definitely a very good place
to be.”
In addition, he said that according to him they stand along with Ferrari in terms of experience and performance while he expressed that he is extremely pleased to be a part of such a legendary team.
“From my perspective Mercedes and Ferrari are on one level in terms of the history in F1 and the standing. It's very special to drive for the Silver Arrow and especially to win with the Silver Arrow,” the German driver added.
Besides, it will be important to mention that there have been a lot of discussions going on Hamilton’s new deal with Mercedes for the next season.
However, the team principal of McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh has said that they are having talks with their driver regarding the new agreement for the coming season and are hopeful that he will stay at his current team.
Over and above, it will be interesting to see whether the Briton will stay at the Woking based team in the future or he will decide to move to the Silver Arrow.
