Nico Rosberg says he is confident for upcoming races after 2011 Belgium Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is confident for the next race weekends of the 2011 Formula 1 season following the team’s strong results in the Belgium Grand Prix.
Rosberg added that he is pleased to have good start in the Belgium Grand Prix. In addition, he stated that it was a special feeling for him to be leading the race in his MGP-W02 car at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
The German had a good battle with his teammate Michael Schumacher in the ending stages of the Belgium race. After struggling with the Silver Arrows car, Rosberg finished his Grand Prix at the sixth place ahead of Force India’s Adrian Sutil, who ended up
in the seventh spot.
Rosberg commented, “I had a great start today and it was a special feeling to be leading the race in a Silver Arrow at this amazing circuit. It was great to see the traffic jam behind me with the Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari cars, but it was hard to realise
that we just don't have the pace to stay at the top.”
The 26-year-old driver discussed the raceday and mentioned, “I had to push quite hard at the start and in the middle which cost me a little towards the end, which combined with Michael being on the faster soft tyres, meant that I wasn't able to keep him
behind me. Now I'm looking forward to Monza and I'm confident that we can improve further.”
Rosberg was on a two-stop strategy in the Belgium Grand Prix after his best start in the race.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver had a successful qualifying round at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Belgium. He had a trouble-free run during Qualifiers and secured his fifth position for the raceday as well.
Rosberg made a lot of struggle on the sets of medium and soft compounds and finally, finished behind his teammate Schumacher in the final race classifications.
After getting strong results from Belgium race weekend, Rosberg is looking forward to the upcoming 2011 Italian Grand Prix.
Let’s see how Rosberg performs in the next races weekends of the ongoing season.
