Nico Rosberg says he is focusing on building his future at Mercedes GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is happy and satisfied with his current team and that he is sure he can improve in his future in the sport by staying with them.
The German commented, “I don't really want to speak about the long term. All I can say is that I am very, very happy here, and it is great to see the direction this team has taken. I believe this team is going to make it, so that is all for now. It might
still take a while, but eventually it is the best position to be in.”
The Petronas-sponsored team driver stated that he hopes his team will be strong in the next season and make their positive start in the 2012 championship battle.
The 26-year-old driver showed his good performance in the 2011 Singapore race weekend. He managed a seventh position for his team after starting the Grand Prix from the same place at the Marina Bay street circuit.
After the Singapore race, Rosberg did not take a positive start in the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix. He was unable to finish his Free Practice session 1 of the Japanese race weekend inside the first ten positions.
Mercedes GP driver, Rosberg came at the 16th position in the Free Practice session 1 classification behind Sauber’s Sergio Perez, who ended up in the 15th spot.
His teammate Michael Schumacher was successful in finishing his morning session in the top ten positions at the Suzuka circuit. Schumacher ended his session in the ninth spot behind Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi after running on the sets of soft and medium
tyres by Pirelli.
Rosberg is sitting at the seventh position with 62 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship at the moment, while Schumacher is at the eighth position behind his teammate with 52 points in the championship battle.
Let’s see how both of the drivers perform in the afternoon Practice session, which is scheduled to be held later on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
