Nico Rosberg says the team will bounce back after the summer break – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg has said that he is convinced that Mercedes will be able to turn corner after a up and down build-up to the Formula 1 summer.
Mercedes were tipped to be a strong team for the current season but have not been able to perform to their billing. The reasons have varied for their lows of the season, some have been technical errors, and other’s related to pure luck in cases related to
Michael Schumacher. Nonetheless they have hampered the performance of the team so far in the season.
Mercedes were performing really well during the qualifiers of the season but have remained largely ineffective during the races. Rosberg was able to claim his maiden win but has not been able to perform consistently to compete for the top positions.
Rosberg was only able to score a single point from the Hungarian Grand Prix ending his season before the summer on a disappointing note. However he is confident that the team will take a step forward after the summer break.
“A difficult period for us, but I'm convinced that we can turn the corner,” said Rosberg in his post-race video blog. “There's stuff coming, upgrades and things, so I think over the next coming weeks we'll be able to take a step forward. Although again,
it's difficult to know because the tracks are quite unusual. It's so difficult to predict, but I'm optimistic that we can do a lot better.”
Rosberg has admitted that the Hungarian grand Prix was a tough race as was already expected by the team.
“It didn't really go to plan,” he added. “I expected us to be quite quick but we were just not quick enough. 13th in qualifying, it really was quite bad.”
He added that he at one point in the race though that he could be able to race Felipe Massa and try to go past him but his pace dropped off drastically and then there was no real chance for him to beat him.
It will be interesting to see how the team will fare after the summer break.
