Nico Rosberg signs multi-year deal with Mercedes GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has recently signed a multi-year deal with the Petronas-sponsored team.
The new contract of Rosberg will continue until the end of 2013 season.
On this occasion, Rosberg talked to the media and said that he is very excited to have extended his contract with his current team.
He added that to win in a Silver Arrowed MGP-W02 car will be one of the highlights of his life so far, and that he greatly enjoys helping to direct Mercedes team in their aim to become the best one in Formula 1 sport.
After signing a contract with his team, he mentioned that he is now very confident that Mercedes GP will provide him a winning car for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
The German is looking forward to great times in the years ahead with the Mercedes-Benz family.
Meanwhile, the team boss Ross Brawn stated that they are delighted with the contract extension, as they know that he is a driver who can win races and championships for them in the next years.
Brawn commented, “Nico has performed exceptionally well for our Silver Arrows team over the past two seasons, achieving results at the very limit of the technical capabilities of our current car. He has an excellent work ethic and, together with Michael,
this gives us a driver pairing who consistently push the team to improve and progress.”
The Petronas-sponsored team boss also mentioned that they want to make his team stronger for the upcoming season and therefore, they are looking forward to provide Rosberg with a car which will enable him to compete right at the front of the field among
their rivals and achieve his deserved first win in Formula 1.
On the other hand, the vice-president of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, Norbert Haug said that he is satisfied with Rosberg’s performance on the grid for them since his joining the team.
Haug mentioned, “Nico and Mercedes GP Petronas have the same targets, he loves to work with our team and we are fully committed to a long and successful future together.”
