Nico Rosberg still hoping for a positive weekend despite KERS problems – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg had some issues with his Kinetic Energy Recovery System device during the Friday practice session of the 2011 Italian Grand Prix but still he claims that he is hoping for the best possible results this weekend.
“I didn't have an ideal session this afternoon as we had some issues, particularly with the KERS problem at the start of the session. However by the end of the day, we have learned quite a lot for the race, and importantly I was able to get used to the track,”
he said.
Rosberg did not get to test his car on low-fuel as a result of which he was unable to score a flying lap during both of the free practice sessions. Either way, he is happy with his car and it is believed that Mercedes GP would be very strong at Monza this
weekend since its characteristics suit his car.
His teammate Michael Schumacher on the other hand finished in 2nd place in the timesheets of FP2 and proved that Mercedes have the pace to challenge the top running teams this weekend.
Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton scored the 1st and 2nd fastest times of the day respectively and Ferrari were not looking so bad either as Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso finished in 4th and
5th places respectively.
Ross Brawn also claims that the team is looking quite impressive and they did a great job with the replacement of Nico’s KERS system.
“We had a small problem with Nico's car this afternoon which required the KERS pack to be changed, and the team did a good job to get him out again so quickly. I'm pleased with our progress over the course of the day, and we're looking forward to a good
weekend at this very special race track,” said Brawn.
Rosberg must be hoping to make the best of the qualifying session since it is going to be very important for Mercedes GP this weekend.
