Nico Rosberg thinks Michael Schumacher is going to give him a tough time in 2011 Formula 1 season
Team Mercedes’ driver Nico Rosberg recently stated that he is going to have a lot of competition from his teammate, the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Despite the fact that Nico scored almost twice as much as points Michael did in the 2010 Formula 1 season, it is expected that Schumacher is going to be one of the top running drivers of the upcoming Formula 1 season since his team made the car according
to his likings this time.
Michael Schumacher recently scored the fastest time of the day at the second pre-season test session that took place in Jerez and he is quite confident about the 2011 Formula 1 season as he believes that his team has made a very strong car and this time,
he is going to aim for nothing less than a win.
“From my point of view he can repeat his performance of last year. But I am sure that will not be the case. I expect that there will be a fierce competition between the two of us, but of course I hope that I will wind up on top,” said Nico in an interview.
He also added that he did not ‘dent’ Michael Schumacher’s image after outscoring the seven-time world champion last season and that this is a part of Formula 1.
The team was unable to score some good times at the first pre-season test session that took place in Valencia and according to some reports, it was revealed that Team Mercedes is having a lot of problems in solving their new car’s issues.
The 2011 Formula 1 season is expected to begin on March 13 in Bahrain after the final pre-season test session at the same venue. It is expected that Team Mercedes will have to find out some solutions for their problems soon if they want to score some good
points and compete alongside the top running teams of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“Yes, we weren't too fast in Valencia but with Michael's two days of running in Jerez we are obviously heading in the right direction. Despite what people believe we weren't running in qualifying spec when he did his times - we still had a buffer,” Rosberg
stated.
The upcoming pre-season test sessions are going to be quite important for Team Mercedes and since Michael has proved that he still has what it takes to be one of the best during the pre-season test session in Jerez, it is going to be interesting to see how
the team builds up in the coming few test sessions.
However, the results of the pre-season test sessions do not matter much so one cannot rely on these results entirely.
