Nico Rosberg to take the W02 on test tracks next month
Nico Rosberg will be taking the new Mercedes GP car, the W02, to the track for its first drive next month. The team announced earlier this week that they will be unveiling their 2011 car at the Valencia track on February 1st, 2011.
On the same date, the first pre-season test session is scheduled to be conducted, in Valencia. The launching ceremony of the team car will take place ahead of the test. Earlier today, Red Bull also announced to bring its car to public for the first time
before the test session begins on February 1st, 2011.
Mercedes GP also announced earlier today that the team driver, Rosberg will be taking the car on the track at the first day of next month.  While talking to the media the driver stated, "I am going first."
The 25-year-old gave some spectacular races on the 2010 tracks. He is the first ever teammate of the seven times world champion, Michael Schumacher, to have stood ahead of him in the annual driver’s standings. The junior German driver wrapped up the season
at 7th place while Schumacher ended 9th, scoring 70 points lesser than his teammate and fellow citizen.
While talking about the upcoming season, Rosberg said that he is looking forward for a much stronger season ahead, with a very competitive car. He further expressed his joy about the fact that the team has always been very "fair" to both him and Schumacher,
although he is a lot junior to his teammate. While talking about the pre-season test he stated that he is looking forward to an exciting driving session with the new car and the Pirelli tyres. He stated that getting the first run is "something special" to
him and he is thankful to the team for having that confidence in him.
"It will be interesting to see how it (the W02) feels. You know pretty quickly how good it is going to be," Rosberg told the media this Friday. He continued saying, "It is probably unrealistic to go into the season saying we will win the championship, but
we will succeed sooner or later. We are on the right track."
On the other hand, Schumacher, 42, will take the car on the track on day two. After having a very abortive comeback last year, the driver is adamant to do as good as he can this season. He told his fans earlier this month that he has returned to the track
with a three year project and during this time he will bag another championship before retiring once and for all.
