Nico Rosberg tops FP2 at 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver, Nico Rosberg has topped the timesheets in second free Friday practice session at 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix held at Bahrain International Circuit.
Rosberg set the fastest lap in FP2 with his best time of 1 minute and 32.816 seconds and remained ahead of the Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel who came second and third.
While the temperature of the track fall considerably as compared to the first session, McLaren pair of drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button set the fourth and the sixth best time.
The seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes set the fifth best time of 1 minute 33.862 seconds.
The veteran German driver stayed ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber-Ferrari with his seventh best time of 1 minute and 34.411 seconds. The Japanese driver was followed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who finished at 8th position with his best time of 1 minute
and 34.449 seconds.
It will be important to note that almost every driver faced immense difficulties with the tyre usage on track. However, the track temperature in FP2 was reduced which constituted to the change in the cars’ performance as compared to the FP1.
The Spaniard was followed by Romain Grosjean of Lotus who set his best lap time of 1 minute and 34.615 seconds. Grosjean was ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber who finished at 10th position.
The Mexican driver was followed by Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso who finished at 11th after setting his best time of 1 minute and 34.895 seconds.
Ricciardo remained ahead of the Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who has been seen struggling in the season so far after the first three races. The Brazilian driver was followed by Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus who stood at 13th position in the timesheets.
Jean Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso came 14th in FP2 after he set his best time of 1 minute and 35.229 seconds. Moreover, Vergne was followed by Pastor Maldonado of Williams team after setting his best lap time of 1 minute and 35.459 seconds came 15th.
Furthermore, the Scarlet team faced trouble with the issue of tyre degradation. Nonetheless, they were not the only team which was encountered with this problem as every contender experienced high levels of degradation.
Caterham pair of drivers, Vitaly Petrov and Heikki Kovalainen finished the FP2 at 16th and 17th.
Moreover, Bruno Senna of Williams followed Kovalainen while he remained ahead of Marussia’s drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic.
Besides, the HRT drivers, De la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan could only managed to take the 21th and 22th place in the timesheets of FP2. Meanwhile, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India were not on track during the second practice session.
