Nico Shadraq Saquin and Paul Jafferson Vivas enter top-16 of Philippine Badminton Ranking System
Philippines' Nico Shadraq Saquin and Paul Jafferson Vivas enter the round-of-16 after beating their opponents in the second round of men’s singles in the 2011 Philippine Badminton Ranking System, at Makati, Philippines, on March 29. Nico Saquin proved his
worth against Toru Takeuchi in a straight-set match of 25 minutes, whereas Paul thrashed Charlo R Tengco by spending the same amount of time in straight games. Both winners will be up against each other in tomorrow’s match in the round-of-16.
Nico Saquin put up a great show in front of a packed gymnasium as he outclassed the opponent in the opening set of the match. Toru found himself helpless against the incredible speed and accuracy of the opponent who played flawless game. Nico took only 13
minutes to grab one-set lead in the match by winning the first game with a big difference of 21-14.
In the second set, Toru played a better game in the first part of the second set as he levelled the score at 7-7. Nico increased the pace of the game and set a reasonable lead of 11-7 till the interval. After the 60-second break, he continued his aggressive

any stage of the first set and established an 11-4 lead. After the interval, he remained on track and consumed only 11 minutes to win the opening set with a tremendous margin of 21-11.
In the second set, Toru played better and matched the speed of the opponent in the first half of the set where he was slightly behind at 10-11. After the one-minute interval, Jefferson played wonderful game as he made no mistake throughout the set and eventually
won it with a good margin of 21-15 in just 14 minutes. The final score of this two-set match was 21-11 and 21-15.
