English Premier League side Chelsea offered their best wishes to striker Nicolas Anelka who has headed out to join Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
The 32-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has officially left Stamford Bridge for his new side and the Blues offered him the best of luck for his adventures in the faraway lands of Asia. Anelka’s transfer request was accepted by the club and he accepted
a move to Shanghai.
An official statement released by the club read:
“Chelsea Football Club would like to express our thanks and best wishes to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shanghai-Shenhua-c40497.
As well as finishing as the club's top scorer in two of his three full seasons at the club, the Frenchman departs Stamford Bridge having won the Barclays Premier League as well as two FA Cups.”
Anelka began his footballing career with Paris Saint-Germain after graduating from their youth academy in 1996. He stayed with the Ligue 1 side until 1997, after which he joined Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. After a two year spell with the Gunners, the Frenchman
joined La Liga giants Real Madrid.
In just a year, with 19 appearances and two goals in the La Liga, Anelka returned to Paris Saint-Germain. He left in 2002 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on a loan spell after which he joined Manchester City in 2002. He joined Fenerbache in 2005 and after a year returned to
the English Premier League.
He joined Bolton Wanderers for two years after which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 signed the Frenchman for a fee of £15 million in the January transfer window of 2008. He made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in January and scored just two goals in his first season at the
Bridge.
Anelka managed to impress everyone in his full season with the club, 2008-2009. With fellow striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 out with injury, the Frenchman managed to score 19 goals in the English Premier League which won him the much sought after Golden Boot.
In total he has made 125 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues and has scored a total of 39 goals I the League.
