Nicolas Colsaerts happy with first day performance at the Gleneagles hotel
One of the most awaited golf tournaments of the year, the Johnnie Walker Championship has finally started. The biggest names in the world of golf have gathered at this auspicious stage to battle it out for glory.
The venue for this event is the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland. This event teed off on the 23rd of August and it is going to end on the 26th of August.
All the players gave their best at the tournament to put on a good score and to impress the spectators. Some succeeded while others failed. One of the players who performed pretty well and had a good first day at Gleneagles is Nicolas Colsaerts.
Nicolas Colsaerts had a slow start to the day. He teed off with a birdie on just the second hole, this was the only one on the front nine. Later on, on the front nine he carded a bogey which made his score par.
On the back nine he got a bit aggressive. He started making some good shots. On the back nine he carded a bogey on the thirteenth hole. This was the last one of the day for Nicolas Colsaerts.
His bogey was followed by three consecutive birdies, which started from the fourteenth hole. After a par on the seventeenth hole, he scored another birdie on the last hole.
These made his score three-under par on the back nine and his total score was also three-under par. Colsaerts is on the tied eighth position with four other players and is two strokes behind the leader of the first day.
This tournament is very important for every player as the team of the Ryder Cup will largely depend on the performance of the players in this tournament.
In an interview Colsaerts said, “Of course it would. I’m on the limit and it would make me very, very proud to get it down to the wire at the end and get myself an automatic spot. Obviously the big goal is playing, but if I could get myself in automatically
it would be a big boost for me”.
