Nicolas Colsaerts the hottest player at the Spanish Open
Nicolas Colsaerts and many other European golfers are heading to play the upcoming Reale Seguros Open de España, scheduled to start from May 3 to 6, 2012.
This tournament is also known as the Spanish Open and will be staged at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla in Seville, Spain. The official purse of the event is €2,000,000.
Experts have singled out different players, who are the most favourite and hottest for the title.
For the Spanish Open, Patrick, the most popular golf expert, has declared Colsaerts as the best. Francesco Molinari is on the second best position and Miguel Angel Jimenez is the third hottest contender of the title.
This tournament is special, as it is being staged by the European Tour and for completing its 100 successful years. Yes! This will be the 100th edition of the Spanish Open, as it was established in 1912.
Colsaerts is the lucky golf player, who has attracted the expert and is in the news. If we look at his career, it is easy to understand that why he is the favourite in a field that contains plenty of players.
He turned professional in 2000 and has won eight professional events. He impressed the spectators for winning the European Tour event, Challenge Tour, and other small events.
In the current year, he started the European Tour season from the Volvo Golf Champions and finished on the 4th position.
After opening the tour in an impressive style, he played the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and gained the 24th position.
He again delivered his best in February, as he played the Commercial bank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy. He finished tied for the 9th position there and improved his world rankings positions.
Colsaerts again displayed a tremendous piece of performance and finished on the 9th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
He has only faced difficulty scoring at the World Golf Championship events, Accenture Match Play Championship and Cadillac Championship. He was unable to finish among the top-25 players. He finished below the top 30.
Later, he moved to the Sicilian Open and amazed the spectators for scoring well and recording the second best finish on the 3rd position.
Soon after he played the Maybank Malaysian Open, he faced several challenges while scoring and finished tied for the 29th position at the end of the day. He only scored a -4 and recorded many bogeys in Malaysia.
Two weeks back, he played the last European Tour event, the Volvo China Open. He was amazing in the event, as he finished on the runner-up position.
Scoring an 18-under 270 took him to the top, which was enough to win. However, he was three strokes behind the leader and faced a defeat at the hands of Branden Grace.
His current career is amazing and he finished five tournaments in the top 10. For recording a good performance in the season, experts have called him the toughest contender for the Spanish Open.
The defending champion is Thomas Aiken of South Africa, and will be teeing off again in 2012. Colsaerts has to be wary of Aiken, as he can pose a serious challenge on the course.
Colsaerts will tee off on Thursday, at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla in Seville, Spain. Analysts said that the upcoming European Tour event is likely to stage a tough battle.
