Although initially struggling to make an impact at Benfica, the former Real Zaragoza man has been able to overcome his injury woes and has consistently shined for the Reds ever since his arrival in 2008.
Combining quite well with his teammates due to his passing abilities, Aimar has also struck up a brilliant partnership with fellow countrymen, Nicolas Gaitan, who joined the team last year.
Gaitan, 23, has been full of praise for the Argentine and revealed that the midfielder was a fine example for all young players to follow, especially at Benfica.

“I just want to continue playing with Aimar. There has been talk of renewing his contract and for me he has to stay.”

“Absolutely. He is a very important player for the team on and off the field. He is an example to everyone, especially young people,” Nicolas Gaitan was quoted as saying.
With everyone insisting that Pablo Aimar should continue with the Portuguese giants, it is only a matter of time when the Stadium of Light hierarchy offers him a new proposal to secure his services for at least another season.
