Zenit St. Petersburg defender, Nicholas Lombaerts, has urged the Sine-Belo-Golubye to focus on the second round of Russian Premier League if they are to retain the championship.
Zenit will kick start the second round of the championship against Anzhi Makhachkala away from home. Their previous meeting saw Zenit cruise past Anzhi by scoring two goals before half time at Petrovsky stadium.
Nicolas Lombaerts believes that Zenit have been active in the transfer market with the capture of Domenico Criscito form CFC Genoa but insisted that work still needs to be done in order emerge as genuine title contenders this season.
Lombaerts explained that Anzhi have become a very different team since the arrival of new club president, Suleyman Kerimov. The former Belgian Pro League stopper highlighted that the wild division truly deserve a top spot on the league table after spending

Lombaerts lamented Zenit performance in the first round and suggested that the Russian club cannot afford to lose any more points. The Belgium national believes that Zenit have to tighten the gap with the league leaders, CSKA Moscow, by overcoming the four-point
deficit.
The 26-year-old defender is hoping that Zenit will only get better in the second round of the Russian Championship under the supervision of the head coach, Luciano Spalletti.
