Zenit St. Petersburg stopper, Nicolas Lombaerts, believes that the Bomzhi deserved the win against CSKA Moscow. The defender highlighted that the Meshki head coach, Luciano Spalletti, out played the opponents with his experience and tactics.
The Belgium national insisted that the Bomzhi played some good, orderly and smooth football at Luzhniki Stadium, and believes that Zenit outplayed the opponents in almost all areas of the field.
Zenit played three central defenders against the Army Men, like they did in the Russian Super Cup win against the Moscow-based club. Lombaerts highlighted that Spalletti’s tactics played a vital role in claiming a victory.
“Of course it worked. Yes we trained, maybe not for long but we practiced with three central defenders. It was a good plan. We completely outplayed CSKA, blocked all the zones for the Army forwards.” The former Gent CFC player was quoted as saying.
CSKA Moscow have a tough schedule ahead of them as they play Rubin Kazan, Dynamo Moscow and Spartak Moscow in the upcoming matches, but the Belgian defender insisted that Sine-Belo-Golubye are only concerned for their matches and they are not bothered
by others as long as they keep winning.
The UEFA Cup winner heaped praise on the Koni strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vagner-c35793 Love, highlighting them as a nightmare for any defence. Lombaerts highlighted that Spalletti’s tactics helped Zenit handle the speedy strikers.
“CSKA played with two strikers, and I can say that they are fast guys. When you play with them one on one, you're always at risk. But when the field consists of three central defenders, you always have someone behind your backs.” The UEFA Super Cup winner
concluded.
Lombaerts admitted that with the arrival of Domenico Criscito from Genoa FC, Zenit have become stronger defensively. Criscito provided an excellent ball for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kerzhakov-c4569 to score the opening goal of the match.
The defender believes that the Meshki put forward some sloppy performances in the first half of the Russian Premier League but they will still fight to retain the league title.
Zenit have now reduced the Armeytsy’s lead to two points and are currently preparing for their upcoming league encounter against FK Amkar Perm.
