The Belgium defender has shrugged off the rumours suggesting him to leave Zenit St. Petersburg this winter, saying that he is not looking for another Russian Premier League club
News in Russian media suggest that Anzhi Makhachkala have made an initial bid to sign Zenit St. Petersburg defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Lombaerts-c27825, during the ongoing winter transfer window.
However, Lombaerts has denied such reports after insisting that he is ready to sign a long term deal at Petrovsky stadium should the defending Russian Premier League champions offer him a new contract.
The Belgian International, who joined the St. Petersburg club from Gent back in 2007, was glad to know reported interest from the Makhachkala-based cub and appreciated the ambitious Russian outfit’s buying power over the course
of last two years.
Lombaerts revealed that he along with his agent will look for a new club during the summer transfer window should Zenit refuse to offer him a new contract with new terms and enhanced conditions.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti refused to let the 27-year-old go to Juventus last summer after refusing the Italian outfit’s 10 million Euros bid for the defensive powerhouse.
Lombaerts went on to admit that even the top European clubs are finding it difficult to buy players due to the economic situation all around the world and told that he does not know for how much the Russian outfit will sell him
in the near future.
“I heard about the interest from Anzhi and I must say that for me it is an honour. Anzhi are in building process and they are working hard on their project.”
“I do not know what my transfer price is but I suspect that Zenit would ask over 10 million Euros for me. However, Anzhi are a rich club and they have showed the world in the past that they can sign whoever they want.”
“I really want to stay at Zenit. I would like to wait for a new contract before entering into negotiations with any other club.” The UEFA Cup winner was quoted as saying.
If speculations are to be believed, Juventus are lining up an enhanced bid for the Belgian stopper this winter.
