In a lengthy interview to Sud Ouest, CEO of M6 and major shareholder of FC Girondins the Bordeaux said that he was disappointed with the club’s season and also spoke about what the future beholds
Since 1999, CEO of M6, Nicolas de Tavernost has been the director and major shareholder of Ligue 1 side FC Girondins de Bordeaux. The 61-year-old Frenchman has been an important part of the club since he took over. However, the last two campaigns which include
the current one, have proven to be testing times for a club that is one of the biggest clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
A few weeks ago, Tavernost said that the club could do much better. In a detailed interview with Sud Ouest, Tavernost spoke about his disappointment at the club’s performances in the league and said that it has been frustrating to see Bordeaux struggle so
much.
However, the Bordeaux supremo is still not giving up hope and says that though the club will again be under financial stress, there will be new arrivals.
“The workforce will be enhanced but it will be under financial duress. The loss for this season would be about 15 million Euros. And especially, as we will not play in Europe, it will mean less revenue for the next season.”
However, Tavernost says that the club will make up for the losses and will again be competitive in the 2012/2013 campaign. The Aquitaine club’s director says that the club will once again be forced to trim down the payroll.
“It is common sense to think that we cannot recruit if we do not sell. Anyway, the professional workforce is too important today. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot and Jean-Louis Triaud, the sport is progressing.”
While talking about the sporting aspect, Tavernost said that for a club of Bordeaux stature, it’s important for it to be playing European football every season.
“Champions League must remain a goal for us. Bordeaux has to be in Europe. For this, we must do smart hiring, what we did in the winter transfer window, while also keeping our important players like Cedric Carrasso. We will set a budget target and we will
then discuss choices with the coach.”
One certainly cannot wait to see how animated would Bordeaux’s transfer activity will be this summer.
