Nicole Rottmann whitewashes Anja Prislan in final qualies – Slovak Open 2011
Seventh seeded Austrian Nicole Rottmann surmounted Slovenian Anja Prislan in the final qualifying round of the Slovak Open 2011.
On indoor hard courts of the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia, the players had battled it out and after one hour and twenty two minutes the seventh seeded Austrian flogged the unseeded Slovenian by ousting her in straight sets of 6-4, 6-2 on Monday the 14th of November 2011.
Although Prislan had a geometric precision, she was unable to smash an ace and was only able to target 50 percent of her first serves. Mean while, Rottmann expertly targeted 74 percent of her first serves and accomplished 71 percent of her second service points in the opening round.
Moreover, she not only had a good serve but also had an above average return which assisted her in accomplishing 65 percent of her second return points and a 53 percent win of total return points in the first set.
Commencing the first round was Rottmann and both the competitors had managed to hold their respective serves in the first two games and they eased on to the scoreboard at 1-1. In subsequent two games, the players then bartered in breaks and the score tied at two games each at the end of the fourth game. However, in the fifth game the seventh seeded Austrian held her serve and then benefitted from a breakpoint in the sixth game to take a mini lead of 4-2 on the scoreboard.
In the following two games the players managed to hold their respective serves but Rottmann was still leading with a break and hold of serve. However, during the last two games the players broke each other back to back and in doing so; the Austrian had managed to go one up in the match by clogging the opening set with a 6-4 victory.
Nonetheless, the second set was a quick victory for the seventh seeded player. She not only took a notch higher in her return but also her serve. By bagging a 57 percent of her total points won in the second set, she bagged the second round of the match. In addition, she not only saved 83 percent of her breakpoints but instead, capitalized on 60 percent of breakpoints won.
Amidst the second set Rottmann scooped away three successive games by capitalizing on an early breakpoint in the second game. It was in the fourth game that Prislan made a return but in the next two games the players traded in breaks and even though Prislan had reduced the deficit to 2-3, Rottmann was still leading by the end of the sixth game.
During the seventh game the Austrian had held her serve and then broke her adversary for the last time and secured her victory of the set and the match to save a berth in the main draw of the event.
