Well since they're emigrating quite far away they'll have a restriction on luggage weight. Perhaps you could hold a party for them before they go? Get everyone they know together, take lots of photos and create nice memories for them :)

Or if that doesn't appeal, get something lightweight - such as something they could use in NZ.. maybe a bit of money towards something for their house?
