The Dutch central midfielder who recently competed at the European Championships for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 has revealed that he aims to stay at Manchester City despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract talks at the Etihad stadium...
With just a year left on his contract with Manchester City, Nigel de Jong is in a precarious situation right now as City have not yet offered him a contract extension that he is waiting on. Nigel was a big part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s
team that won their first English Premier League title last season by beating Manchester United in the title race.
It was a welcome development for the Manchester club whose league title triumph was their first one in over 44 years. After waiting for so long to win the league title, City are now adamant on adding to their success next season
but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882 might not be a part of their squad.
As the club are still pondering over his future at the Etihad stadium, De Jong might be approached by other suitors. Whilst the Dutch midfielder did play for City in the previous league season, he did not play as regularly as
other players at the club.
Roberto Mancini benefitted from having the likes of De Jong at the club due to the depth that they provided to his squad during the title run in. Moreover, De Jong also gave City a dogged approach in central midfield where his
tackles and his blocks made things easier for more expressive players to work their magic.
He said, "My contract runs for another year, so I'm in a pretty good position. I want to stay [at Manchester City]. I've been at the club for three years and I’m feeling really well. I have won the FA Cup and the league title,
which are the biggest trophies in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749."
He added, "I saw the club change from complete mayhem at the training facilities into a real top club, and that's great to see. It's part of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 that I occasionally warm the bench. We have a squad rotation system. I prefer
to play all games, but it's all about the team.”
