Nigel Llong to replace Billy Doctrove in ICC’s Elite Panel of umpires – Cricket News Update

Doctrove, whose contract expires at the end of this month, recently announced that he would not be seeking a renewal, bringing a 14-year-long career as an international umpire to an end. He did, however, express an interest in continuing to umpire at the
regional level.
Meanwhile, Llong joins a list of 13 Elite panel umpires (among them http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bruce-Nicholas-James-Oxenford-c48733, who is also a new addition – a ex-spinner who has officiated 8 Tests, 34 ODIs and 11 T20 internationals)who will be officiating during the ICC World Twenty20 due to take
place in Sri Lanka in September this year.

Llong started his career as a player for County cricket team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 – he served as a left-hander and an off-spinner, between 1990-1998. He was unable to earn a permanent place in the squad, and after playing 68 first-class games (with 3024 runs at 31.17 to
his credit) and 136 List A matches (during which he scored a total of 2302 runs at 25.29), he retired at the end of 1999.
He started umpiring and in 2002 joined the English first-class panel. He gradually commenced acting as the third official in international matches by 2004, and was eventually added to the ECB's list of international officials in 2006.
His umpiring career spans 12 Tests, 55 ODIs and 16 T20Is. Llong began his career by debuting in the second T20I ever played, in June 2005 between England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Southampton.
