Bolton Wanderers midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-Reo-Coker-c27884 has criticized his side for their poor performance against Chelsea in the English Premier League.
According to the English midfielder, the 3-0 defeat to the Blues was suffered at Stamford Bridge because the Trotters lacked in mental strength. The defeat sees them on level points with bottom of the League side Wigan Athletic on the English Premier League
table.
Reo-Coker believed it was the team which had let themselves down and were the only ones to blame for the defeat to Chelsea in a match that had been a must-win for them. He revealed they had not been at their best and had been rightfully punished by the Blues
for it.
Reo-Coker said while speaking to reporters:
“We have let ourselves down big time. The sad and true fact of the matter is, we just weren't good enough.
We crumbled - we were soft. They were soft goals to give away and it was a soft character to show considering the situation we're in.
And if people are questioning the mentality then you can't blame them.”
While the defeat to Chelsea leaves Bolton Wanderers on level with bottom most side Wigan Athletic, the win saw the Blues secure much needed three points. The win came after five fixtures without a win in all competitions, leaving the Blues in distress.
The results caused much speculation over the role of Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, with many sources claiming he would be sacked by owner Roman Abramovich. The Russian billionaire has been known to sack underperforming managers, sometimes not even giving
them a full season to prove themselves
In the last five years, Abramovich has sacked four managers, with Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti being the last manager to face the axe at Stamford Bridge. Villas-Boas is now under pressure to deliver results, which is why the Blues were at their best against
Bolton Wanderers.
