The AC Milan midfielder has revealed that the appointment of the former Bayern Munich boss as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 new coach has given the side a boost after playing under the tutelage of Bert van Marwijk for four years.
Netherlands midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882, has heaped praise on the new head coach, Louis van Gaal, and has admitted that the former Ajax Amsterdam boss’ appointment has given the Oranje a boost.
Following the Flying Dutchmen’s disappointing UEFA Euro 2012 exit, Van Marwijk stepped down from the managerial hot seat, and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Dutch Football Association (KNVB) appointed Van Gaal as his successor.
The former Manchester City midfielder has expressed his delight at the change of the trainer, while revealing that he has enjoyed the training sessions thus far.
“After four years with [coach] Bert van Marwijk, it's good to have a new boost. And that boost we've got from Van Gaal and his background staff. Is Van Gaal how I expected he should be? I've never had expectations of someone. I don't listen to stories of
him from other people, I'm open minded. I've got good experiences so far with his training methods”, De Jong was quoted as saying to Bild.
The 61-year-old tactician, who started his professional coaching career at Ajax Amsterdam in the 1991/92 season, has been appointed as the Oranje head coach for the second time. His first stint was a complete failure, when the Flying Dutchmen failed to qualify
for the 2002 FIFA World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 and South Korea.
However, De Jong has expressed confidence in the Dutch mentor’s abilities, while revealing that the Dutchman is working extremely hard with all the players that will certainly pay him off.
“It's a different style of working. He's busy coaching and bringing a positive vibe to the group. I feel this group [of players] want to live up to Van Gaal. We all know how his first period at Oranje went”, the AC Milan midfielder concluded.
Netherlands have commenced their 2014 World Cup qualification campaign brightly, winning both of their games thus far.
