Question:

Night time testing (Qatar)?

I missed the lap timings last night. after seeing them in Neilggti's question I wondered how many laps Stoner did. was he out for the full session. my reason is im looking for a c***k in the ducatti camp. hoping to find a flaw. all through winter testing Stoner has come out done a few very fast laps and sat down. Im wondering if he has been running very light. and been trying (succesfully ) to psyche the other teams out.

  2. ditto Neil

  3. Hi proc

Stoner did 61 laps, his fastest was on his 41st.

The only rider to complete less laps was Ant West with 51.

I daresay that on occasions he has run with a light fuel load, but then again I expect that everyone else has used that tactic. He'll be running with full loads as well so that the bike can be set up for every condition. But he seems to be consistently fast, no matter what.

I honestly believe that the edge he has on everybody else is Bottle! He has more than anyone else, plain and simple. You just need to look at the amount of times that he crashed in his 125,  250 and Honda Moto Gp days. It just didn't phase him. He would just get straight back on and be back on the ragged edge and beyond.

With the Ducati he has a machine with a very advanced electronics package that uses GPS to adapt power, traction control etc depending on where he is on the track. It's his lack of fear that enables him to get on the gas early, and the brakes late. He's always done that, and in the past he's paid heavily for it. Now he has a machine that lets him get away with it. And good luck to him. The rest need to adapt to his way and grow a bigger set of bollocks. (Which means they have to get pretty big, coz anyone who rides a moto gp bike in anger has got a huge set anyway!)

    Edit: 2310hrs

These are the final times for day 2, and surprisingly enough Casey is not on top. Just look who's second:

    1 Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha1'54.552

    2 James Toseland Yamaha1'54.592

    3 Randy De Puniet Honda1'54.973

    4 Colin Edwards Yamaha1'55.464

    5 Casey Stoner Ducati1'55.485

    6 Andrea Dovizioso Honda1'55.550

    7 Nicky Hayden Honda1'55.674

    8 Chris Vermeulen Suzuki1'56.119

    9 Alex De Angelis Honda1'56.249

    10 Valentino Rossi Yamaha1'56.256

    11 Loris Capirossi Suzuki1'56.450

    12 John Hopkins Kawasaki1'56.612

    13 Dani Pedrosa Honda1'56.704

    14 Shinya Nakano Honda1'56.792

    15 Marco Melandri Ducati1'56.902

    16 Toni Elias Ducati1'56.986

    17 Sylvain Guintoli Ducati1'57.055

    18 Anthony West Kawasaki1'57.459

Casey only did 28 laps. Half of what most of the others did. Plus he was still fastest on race tyres. I'm sure he's still gonna go away a happy bloke.
