Hi all, just booked a last minute holiday to Montego Bay Jamaica (September 08), was a good deal and didn't do any research on the nightlife.

My boyfriend and I are both in our 30's and he likes a beer or two or three....LOL... whereas i love to dance and sip cocktails.......!

Don't want to be stuck in the resort every evening so can anyone tell me about any decent places to go in Montego Bay? And more importantly is it safe?

Thanks in advance!

Have an Fantastic Day!!!!!!!!

  1. you will have the best holiday ever if your staying in montego bay the bars are on the strip, do you know which hotel you are staying in ,as it may be a 10 min drive from the centre there's loads of things to do margaritaville is a lively bar drinks are quite expensive as its mainly a tourist bar ,if you want to know any thing else just ask we go to jamaica quite often its our favourite holiday destination,if you want t he name of a driver i can give you one who will take you around instead of paying the hotel prices ,nice to watch the sun go down with a cocktail ot two in negril ricks cafe.yes its safe never had any problems we went in april went to the blue lagoon in portland it was a 5 hr drive but worth every min jamaica is a very beautiful island enjoy x

  2. Been there and it was the worst holiday ever. Expect to be hassled night and day and people pushing drugs at you THE WHOLE TIME and then getting very aggressive when you say no. Expect to be conned by every smiling face and take your calculator. If you pay in US $'s you'll get your change in J$'s or the other way round. Nothing has prices on or if it does doesn't includes taxes and this will vary from place to place depending on how rich you look.

  3. don't go to the tourist traps like margaritaville(its a dump!) once you get there speak with the locals in your hotel they'll give you the best advise for whats hot a the moment and in safe areas we've often taken someone (jamaican)along for added protection- it will only cost you the price of admission and a few cocktails and is well worth it! have a great time!you can also check out www.jamaicatourist.net for ideas

  4. Margaritaville is nice for tourists.... It's on gloucestershire ave (the hip strip) there's also pier 1 quite close.

Have a lovely time in Jamaica, hope you enjoy.... please don't forget to try some food from one of the street vendors selling food! Is amazing
