Only expert advice or users with experience comments. Don't just answer because you like Nike or Adidas. Please. I am looking at getting a new pair of cleats and was wondering which pair is better. I was looking at the Mercurial Vapor's Lightness, touch, speed and acceleration. And I was looking at the Predator's ability to shoot the ball harder due to power pulse, and the ability to get a better swerve on the ball due to predator elements. I don't have any experience on the Teijin Synthetic (Mercurial) vs Kangaroo Leather (Predator) and they're both the same price at $200. I also heard that the Mercurials gives you blisters. I can't afford blisters since the season is about to start. But I'm not sure if they really do give you a lot of blisters or just a little, or none. Please, good answers.

Here are the links if you want to chack them out:

Please... I need good advice. Thanks in advance!

  1. I own a pair of Nike MVIIIs and I like them a lot.  I have the SG version.  Ive only worn old predators before so I cant comment as thoroughly on them.  I love just running around in the MVs because theyre so light and fit very snug.  I have a narrow foot and really like the feel.  Like you mentioned, the only disadvantage to them (compared to a more structured boot like the Adidas) is control when hitting it harder, eg long passing, crossing, hard shots.  I love them for running, touches, short stuff.  Id rather have the adidas' for shooting and long passing.

Consider how you play the game.  Do you go out wide, do you take long shots, deep lying midfielder...more of an Adidas type thing.  Do you make lots of runs, one touches, etc.  Nike

Honestly though, you cant go wrong.  Look at how you play, where on the field and your foot.

Oh, my MVIIIs gave me nasty blisters on my heel.  I hear the new MVIVs are better about this, the heel is supposed to be a tad rounder.

  2. one of my teammates has the nike vapors and says they are the most comfortable cleats he has used. They are supposed to be really light and they have good grip but they definately give blisters.  but my teammate said if they ever get wet, they dry off wicked quick. I myself own adidas profi liga cleats made of kangaroo leather, and i have to say kangaroo leather is the most comfortable material ever. the shoe form fits to your foot and maximizes touche control because of it. I bought mine at the beginning of the season and got maybe one blister from the cleats, and i typically get like five blisters. I would recommend kangaroo leather cleats.  If you play outside midfield, then take the predator powerswerves because the cleat helps with the leg and foot movement necesarry in crossing the ball. Vapors are great for breakaways since they are light so they would work best for strikers. i myself would by anything kangaroo leather simply for ball control, but it all depends on the player's abilities.

  3. Hey

I feel i can help you here.

    I am a professional footballer

I am a striker for a professional english team in the coca cola league 2 called wycombe wanderers

Most footballers in the top 2 leagues ( the prem and the championship) and some in league 1 get their boots payed for if they are sponsored but only a few from league 2 do.

I used to wear nike vapors (iv fg)  which i bought myself until i got offered a deal with adidas to wear the predators so i did. The boots adidas and nike give to their players are made specially and if sold in shops would sell for atleast double the price of the replicas.

The predators that adidas provided for me were not as good as the nike vapors that i bought myself from the shops so trust me:

For a striker the better boots to go for are the Nike mercurial vapor iv and make sure you buy the firm ground ones. They are the best boots i have ever had and pretty much all of the strikers in the english leagues agree they are the best for a striker. There is a SL option (super light) but they are an extra £70 (or $100 for you) but they aren't worth it unless you really have the money to throw away.

    Hope i helped

  4. The powerswerve and vapors are both great boots, but the powerswerve is a little wider than the vapors. I personally prefer the powerswerves because I have a wider foot. The predators are a bit heavier, but it doesn't really have that much of a difference. It all comes down to which boot fits you better. If you get the vapors, it should fit almost perfectly or else you will get blisters. The kangaroo leather in the predators expand and fit your foot, so get a really snug size. Blisters are really due to the fit of the boot and my friends have gotten blisters from both boots. Trust me when I say get the most comfortable boot and ignore all the technology;its useless if you get an uncomfortable boot. Don't buy a bigger size because you think you'll grow, get something snug.
