Nike launches special edition of footwear for the Masters Tournament – Golf News
Players, who were impatiently waiting for the Masters Tournament, have finally had a sigh of relief, as the prestigious event is set to begin at the Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
While the players are getting ready to tee off in the first major event of the year, Nike has unveiled its new range of shoes especially designed for the Masters Tournament.
The Nike officials announced that the "limited edition Lunar Control footwear" will be worn by several professionals in the Masters this year.
Lee Walker, Nike Golf’s Footwear Product Director, said that it has always been fun to produce something special for the athletes, so that they can enjoy each and every moment they spend on the field.
Moreover, the company always strives to serve the athletes by providing them with stylish as well as comfortable footwear.
Through the new Lunar Control footwear, Nike has delivered stability, along with lightweight performance.
According to the press release, "Lunar Control provides exceptional cushioning for walking the course and the Flywire stability for powerful golf swings. The Lunarlon foam midsole proves durable and highly responsive yet offers the underfoot comfort and
ground feel players desire".
The shoes are white coloured with green details on it. Moreover, a special bag is also available with each pair that will help in protecting the shoes between the rounds.
“The bag was inspired by the signature white overalls worn by caddies at Augusta National, brought together through a combination of all white canvas and leather with green draw string and embroidered detailing,” Walker said.
The players who will be seen wearing the shoes include the reigning champion Charl Schwartzel, Paul Casey, Kevin Chappell, Stewart Cink, Simon Dyson, Ross Fisher, Lucas Glover and Francesco Molinari.
According to the company sources, the limited range of footwear will be available to the customers today at all the company outlets in the United States.
Moreover, if anyone wants to order the product online, it will be available for purchase at www.nikestore.com.
The shoes are available at a reasonable price of $150 per pair. However, only limited quantities are available in the stores, they told.
