Nike to continue sponsoring the Indian Cricket Team
Nike, a multinational sportswear company with headquarters in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) to extend its sponsorship to Team India for the next five years.
Under the new agreement, Nike will provide uniforms to the entire Indian team for the coming five years worth an approximate amount of RS. 2.7 billion.
Nike has been Team India’s official sponsor since quite some time now. Its previous five-year contract with the BCCI ended in December 2010. However, the deal was extended for three more months for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Team India managed to win the World Cup Trophy and became the first ever cricket team to claim the title at home.
As the victory is a matter of great honour and pride for India, several leading brands have reached out to the management and the players.
The World Cup winning captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, has become a marketing icon in India with twenty brands featuring him in their promotions.
Recently, the Indian Election Commission signed up Dhoni to be their brand ambassador during the upcoming election season.
Talking to the media at the occasion of signing the deal, the Nike India Managing Director, Tarun Puri, said that Nike was committed to provide the BCCI and team India with the most innovative products.
Nike is one the biggest sportswear manufacturing and supplying company of the world. The BCCI and Nike have been on good terms since long and strive to support each other’s cause to quite an extent.
