Niki Lauda insists Sebastian Vettel could learn from Fernando Alonso – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver, Niki Lauda has said that Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing could take learning from Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who has performed tremendously well in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far even with an uncompetitive car.
Alonso is presently leading championship with 164 points ahead of Red Bull pair of driver, Vettel and Mark Webber. Moreover, although the Scarlet team struggled with the aerodynamic design of their car during the start of the season, however, the Spaniard
has performed amazingly well and has successfully restricted the probable damage for his team.
Lauda believes that the defending champion should take lesson from the two-time world champion who has delivered some amazing performances in the season until now.
Furthermore, he said that the veteran German driver has to push really harder in order to make a stronger mark in the forthcoming races as the competition is very tight in the field.
“Last year [Vettel] had a huge advantage with his car,” Lauda told Österreich. “Now he must fight like a donkey in every race. As the stress level is higher (this season) then one of the aspects Vettel could take is from Alonso; in difficult situations he
is superior to everyone else.”
In addition, he said that after the Hungarian GP, it can be noted that the top contenders had a very close tussle and he assessed that the remaining nine grands prix are going to be immensely competitive. Besides, he said that he is expecting a very tense
battle between the defending champions and McLaren.
“The top teams are very close together, as we saw at the last race in Hungary. I expect this close fight to continue and hope that Red Bull and McLaren still have further potential to exploit,” the Austrian driver added.
Over and above, he said that even though, Alonso has a strong lead over the other drivers and has demonstrated some inspiring set of abilities and skills. Nonetheless, he asserted that the competition amongst the teams is still very interesting and it will
be thrilling to see how they all come up after the August break.
