Niki Lobintsev wins Men’s 100m freestyle gold – Swimming news
Niki Lobintsev of Trojan-CA won gold medal of Men’s 100m freestyle on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 24-year-old Lobintsev continued his medal raking effort in the tournament, as he secured the title of 100m freestyle discipline. He stayed prominently ahead of his challengers in the double lap event and pocketed the title.
With his exceptional pace, Lobintsev managed to overwhelm his challengers as he secured the title with the timing of 48.65 seconds.
Vlad V Morozov of UN-20-CA, who stayed 0.44 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and clocked a time of 49.09 seconds for silver medal, chased the champion.
The second best finisher was chased by Alex Sukhorukov of Trojan-CA, who was 0.36 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by posting a time of 49.45 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Dimitri Colupaev of UN-20-CA, who was 0.26 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by producing an effort of 49.81 seconds.
Subsequently, Colupaev was chased by Titus A Knight of GWSC-CA, who was prominently slower from his former finisher and made his way to the finishing end as fifth position holder with the timing of 52.19 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Wade S Allen of UN-03-CA, who was 0.56 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall with the timing of 52.75 seconds.
Subsequently, Allen remained in a lead of 0.06 seconds over his following swimmer, Marco V Russo of Heartland-SI, who concluded his race in seventh place by posting an effort of 52.81 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was secured by Lucas L Norman of UN-03-CA, who stayed only an inch slower from improving his position and tapped the wall with the timing of 53.02 seconds.
Matthew Ackman of Pointe-Claire Swim Club, who stayed 0.21 seconds behind and posted an effort of 53.23 seconds, secured ninth fastest spot of the race.
Ackman was chased by Andrew P Brady of NCA-SI, who remained 0.35 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 53.58 seconds for tenth place.
In addition, Lobintsev as extremely overjoyed with his notable efforts in the 100m discipline while the position holders of all events were invited on the podium for medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of their respective events.
