Nikias Arndt takes fourth stage as the peloton splits in Tour De L’Avenir 2011 – Cycling Update
The German track and road racing cyclists Nikias Arndt showed his tremendous skills and took the fourth stage ahead of thirty strong peloton. David Boily takes the overall leader’s jersey.
The race started in Porrentruy and ended in Arbois. Nikias Arndt took a total of 4 hours, 8 minutes and 32 seconds to cover the distance of 153.5 kilometres.
Recently, he also took stage in Tour of Thuringia. He also took the overall standing of Tour of Alanya and a stage in Tour of Thuringia and Cinturon ciclista a Mallorca in 2010.  
He easily beat French cyclists Romain Bardet into a runner-up spot with the same timing of Arndt while Simon Yates of Great Britain finished third ahead of Raymond Kreder and Jordi Simon.
In the first climb Garikoitz Bravo (Spain) showed a good effort and managed to gain maximum points while Tim Wellens (Belgium) fought back and took the second climb of the day. After 30 kilometres to go, the three cyclists included Lawrence Warbasse (USA),
Abdraimzhan Ishanov (Kaz) and Wellens.
Warbasse and Inhanov managed to gain a lead of three and half minutes over the peloton. However, Ishanov took the third category of the climb. In the first intermediate sprint, Inhanov took points while the American managed to secure the second sprint in
Cernans but the peloton caught him.  
In the front of the peloton the pace is set while in the last climb, the peloton was split into several pieces. However, Arndt managed to hold his pace and took a chance to take the stage victory.
David Boily from Canada presented a good performance in the stage but grabbed 20th place as he holds his overall lead with a timing of 16 hours, 49 minutes and 45 seconds.
Christopher Juul-Jensen (Denmark) was in second place with 34 seconds while Vegard Stake Laengen (Norway) finished third with 38 seconds down to Boily. The stage winner Arndt was in 13th spot with a difference of 1 minute and 51 seconds.
The next stage will run in Champagnole and finish in Le Salève as all the cyclists cover the distance of 171.5 kilometres.
