Nikola Ciric beats Uladzimir Ignatik in first round – San Marino CEPU Open 2011 CH
Nikola Ciric, Serbian, cleared his way to the 2nd round of the San Marino CEPU OPEN 2011, an ATP Challenger tour event, beating Uladzimir Ignatik in straight sets 7-6(3) and 6-3. The match was being played at the Centro
Tennis Cassa di Risparmio di Fonte dell'Ovo in the City of San Marino on the marvellous red clay. Also the last of the 1st round match for the day, Monday 8th August, ended in around one hour and 31 minutes.
Ranked as the world No.161, Uladzimir Ignatik played his first match against the Serbian Nikola Ciric, however, lost. The 21-year-old is from Belarus and plays right handed. Although the two had a clear difference of experience,
still the young Belarus star gave a hard-hitting to the Serbian.
On the contrary, Nikola Ciric, a professional since 2002, is a left hander playing as a strong baseline and backhands. The 28-year-old Serbian has played almost 378 matches altogether in his career. Mainly a clay court player,
Ciric seemed to have more of a practice session defeating the 21-year-old Belarus.
The match started off with the young Belarus serving first in the set. Where the 21-year-old proved to be wonderful, the Serbian beard out to be unmatchable at the same time. Serving 9 aces against 6 served by the 21-year-old,
Nikola Ciric had a less percentage of his 1st serve wins compared to Ignatik (83 % on 76 % accuracy). Other than that, Ciric had a greater 2nd serve and return win ratio that lead to his victory in the set.
Stuck on a tiebreaker, Nikola Ciric broke the 21-year-old and took away the first set leading the match 1-0.
With his racquet doing all the talking, Ciric dominated the second set as well. Serving 3 blazers in the set, the Serbian, broke the Belarus 3 times in the second set, overpowering the 21-year-old and taking away the second set
6-3 and the match 7-6(3) and 6-3.
In the first set Ciric secured 42 points in total. In addition to that the Serbian won another 33 in the second set totalling 75 in the match that included 47 service points and 28 returners.
Winning his 1st round, Nikola Ciric now moves to the second round to play against the winner of the match between Simone Bolelli, Italy, and Benoit Paire of France, for a spot in the quarter-finals.
