Nikola Stevanovic scheduled to defend his IBF title against Ayoub Nefzi – Boxing news
Nikola Stevanovic, the current IBF Inter-Continental light middleweight champion, is scheduled to defend his title for the fourth time in a row against surging Belgian proud, Ayoub Nefzi, the former IBF International light middleweight champion, in a 12-round
bout to be held on May 18, 2012.
The duo will headline the pay-per-view jointly organised and promoted by Davorin Lampe of CHIP Boxing Promotion and Ljubisa Ignjatovic of Chip Promotion. The ring for the event will be set up at Hall of Sports arena situated in Belgrade, Serbia and the Friday
night showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title 12-round bout between Uensal Arik and Benson Mwakyembe.
Nikola, 24, has been in a total 24 bouts and boasts 22 wins. He has nailed just eight of his opponents by knockout and has lost only one bout in his whole career. Since his last loss to Alexander Abraham, a bout for the EBU-EE (European External European
Union) light middleweight title, the Serbian proud is on a six-bout win streak.
Stevanovic grabbed his IBF title by collecting a unanimous decision win over Francesco Di Fiore and since then has defended it successfully against Tshepo Mashego, Chris van Heerden, and Stefano Castellucci.
His opponent, Ayoub, does not stand a chance in front of the Serbian pounder. Nefzi, 32, has been in a total 20 bouts and boasts 17 wins. Also known as ‘The Prince’, Ayoub has nailed just three men by knockout.
In addition to a bit tarnished resume, Nefzi also lacks the ability to knock the opponent out cold as compared to Nikola. Well known as ‘Johnny’, Nikola has experience, a decent win and knockout ratio, agility, footwork, hometown and above all age factor
in his gear as huge advantage.
If the Serbian uses all these facets optimally and in the most apropos combination, Nikola can easily nail Nefzi even via knockout. During the recent media interaction, Nikola shoved critics hypothecations of being the underdog and stated, “I have said it
before and I’m saying it again that I’ve never been this ready. No attention to the opponent, enough to me is that I saw it today...maybe tomorrow I'll have a little stage fright, but only until the match starts. This is normal and it comes with the sport.”
The night might be an easy one if Nikola capitalises all his advantages as he is coming from an impressive knockout win over undefeated Stefano Castellucci.
