Nikolay Skvortsov claims Men’s 200m butterfly gold – 2012 Salnikov Cup
Nikolay Skvortsov of Russia claimed gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2012 International Vladimir Salnikov Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, December 21.
The Russian swimmer devastated hopes of his opponents in the distant butterfly discipline and proved his mettle for the title.
With his notable efforts in the race, Skvortsov remained one and a half body length ahead of his closest competitor and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 51.96 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained 1.32 seconds faster from Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, who finished his race in second place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 53.28 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by Andrey Tambovskiy of Russia, who stayed prominently slower from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 56.64 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Evgeny Koptelov of Russia, who stayed 0.50 seconds apart and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.14 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sergey Ivanov of Samara Region, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and reached the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 57.55 seconds.
Ivanov was chased by Ilya Lemaev, who stayed 1.13 seconds slower from his former finisher and concluded his swim in sixth place by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 58.68 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Evgeny Iskakov of Russia, who stayed 0.35 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 59.03 seconds.
Last position of the race was secured by Maksim Ganikhin of Russia, who was unable to upset any of his competitors and ended his race in eighth place by producing an effort of 1 minute and 59.28 seconds.
Furthermore, Skvortsov was happy with his undisputed effort and collected medal after the race.
