  1. According to me Nikon is the best and it will always remain the best.

  2. Just about anything that either Canon, or Nikon is going to be good. It just depends what you are looking for in a cam. But you cannot go wrong with either one. Sony? OK, I guess.

  3. Both Nikon and Canon have great product line that suit the needs of the photographer. If you don't plan to get a DSLR then I'd suggest Canon as your best bet, especially after owning a PowerShot A640 I must say it's well easy to control and setup for a first time user. Maybe this model is a little out of date now (1-1.5 years old). I'm sure Nikon have something to suit your needs too, but I don't have experience with them that much. My next camera will be Nikon D80.

The reason I don't suggest Sony's Cyber Shot is because, although they make great quality products with Carl Zisse lens, the fact that you have to use their own brand memory card (Pro Stick Duo) and software, that is again dedicated for Sony only, means you will be limited on the stuff you can buy, use, upgrade etc.

  4. I'd definitely go with Canon - in my opinion it's one of the easiest to use and has excellent quality.

I have a DSLR Canon EOS 450D which I just got for my birthday, which I'm still playing with. And I also have a compact digital camera, Canon Ixus 75, which is spectacular for easy point and click photos - I seriously couldn't live without it. It has a really good lense as well and takes amazing Macro shots, plus has lots of great creative functions if you want to play with colors (like only showing one color in the entire image, or swapping one color for another). I'd definitely suggest Canon though, it's definitely one of the best brands along with Nikon.

The US versions of the cameras I have are:

Canon Digital Rebel XSi (DSLR camera)

Canon Powershot SD750 (amazing compact digital camera)

    Hope that helps. :)

  9. I've just written an article comparing the major digital SLR brands (see link below).

It looks at general characteristics of the brands (affected by fundamental design decisions such as image sensor size, image stabilization location), not individual models:

    - Size and Weight

    - Image Stabilization

    - High-ISO Performance

    - Market Share

  10. SONY

  11. First you gotta get your budget straight.

Do u want a point and shoot or DSLR.

I really would suggest a cannon first then sony then nikon.
