I'm really indecisive. I know that they are all good, but I'm not sure which one is best for me.

Im leaning away from the FM10 because of lack of auto which may be needed or wanted in the future.

I Like the F5 but I know that the F100 is really the same for less $$

Like the F100 but for a good system of the camera, lenses, Flash, Case, and tripod im looking at over $400

My course is black and white based though I will be shooting color as well.

any thoughts, info, or suggestions (preferably nikon, but others are always welcom) would be appreciated.

I can always change my mind completely as well.

I just need a good solid 35mm slr with pro features and capabilities with a system price tag of less than $400.

Thanks

  1. FM2, FM2a or FM3.

The most versatile Nikon camera ever made.  Works without battery power if required (ideal for very cold places)

F4 F4s etc are also classics. Though pretty complex to use to their full potential.

F5 is a very very nice AF camera.  Great metering, great build.  Interchangable finders.

Almost enough to make me change from Canon,

An FM2 is just the porsche 911 of film cameras.  Simple design, high quality, evergreen.

You will feel so much more proud of your images when you know you done as much work as the camera.  Not as nice a feeling with the AF cameras.
