Nikon D40 Kit; Is this a good deal?

This kit has the exact lenses and camera I've been looking for. I'm wondering if this retail price is fair, considering all items would be new? I am not looking to change my pick to a D50 or D60 or any other camera, I'm just curious as to whether or not this is a 'good deal'. Please keep in mind these are Canadian dollars! Thanks so much :)

i bought that exact same camera a year ago with those lenses and paid about that for those, i also bought a few extra things so i paid a little more.  I have never loved a camera more

Just one caution, some of the kits have 55-200mm with VR and without VR. The one you have seen in best buy is with VR.

VR means vibration reduction, this is a very nice feature on the lens, it helps you get sharper images when taken hand-held. So watch out when your are looking the deals, if without VR then cost is less.

Yes the D40 is a good camera for a good price you will enjoy it. I have both a D300 and a D40 and often grab the D40. A really good review is here

In general. that is the MSRP price for all retailers.

What you can do is to print out the full detail and take it to one of the bigger camera shops in your town.

Then, tell the sale staffs that you will buy it from them if they can take another 10% off of Bestbuy's price.

Most of the shops will give you that discount and take your business instead of letting you walk.

If you live in Vancouver area, Broadway Camera and Len & Shuttler will do that.

Good camera the price well... maybe look around a little more. I have seen it a little cheaper.
