Question:

Nikon D60 or Canon Digital Rebel XTi?

I can get either new, for the same price. But I dont know which one would be a better buy. I like both brands, and am leaning towards the Nikon, mostly because I have tried it out for a longer amount of time. With bth the cameras/brands being good. Which would you favor?

The price is under $650, so if you recommend any other cameras for the price, that are worth the price, I would appreciate it.

Oh! And I was also considering the Nikon D40 to save some money and spend it on accesories/lenses. AKA, major differences between the D40 and D60.

Thank you.

  1. I would also go with the Nikon, even though I have the Canon myself. The standard Canon EF 18-55mm lens that they bundle with the Digital Rebel is way below average. I only stayed with Canon because of two great lenses and other accessories that I had owned before and which cost me too much to just give them up.

  2. I prefer the Nikon because of their 18-200mm VR, very good for trips because you don't need to change the lens. A little pricey but worth the money. For me the main differences between D40 and D60 are the mega pixes (6M and 10M) but it won't make difference if you don't print large pictures and the D60 has a dust free technology on the sensor, and if you buy the D60 kit comes with 18-55mm with VR the D40 only comes with a normal 18-55mm

  3. without any doubt nikon

i tried new cameras but they all are bogus

  4. The Nikon the Nikkor 18-55mm AF-S VR lens is top notch and the D60 is an excellent camera.
