I am planning to buy a new Digital SLR camera but I'm not sure which camera is the best and worth every penny?

  1. From personal experience, I would choose Nikon.

  2. I started off shooting with a Nikon D-SLR (D50) and thought it was a decent camera. The ergonomics on it were pretty good but the quality of the pictures didn't impress me. I sold that camera and ended up buying the Canon Rebel XT (350D) and really could not be happier. The ergonomics took a bit more to get used to than on the Nikon, but the functionality of the camera and the quality of the images is far superior to the Nikon counterpart. I could not be happier with my choice in switching from Nikon to Canon.

Thus my answer? Get the Canon, you will love it.

  3. I am a camera buff.

    I love to take photographs.

I have the Canon, however Nikon's are my preference.

I got the camera for my birthday, otherwise I would have picked a Nikon:].

  4. Honestly either one will be fine. The Canon is a newer model than the D80 but the D80 is a great camera. The D80 is a notch above a entry level SLR. Nikon I believe is coming out with a replacement for the D80 shortly so you might be able to get a good deal on one soon. That said it really comes down to how they feel in your hands and what features you want. Canon and Nikon are the top camera manufacturers and you can't go wrong with either one. Both have a vast array of lenses and accessories to choose from. You need to go to a camera store and play around with both of them. The one that feels best is the camera for you. When it comes to cameras your choice in lens will be the biggest determiner of image quality not the camera body.

  5. I had a Canon for 20 years and was always bitter when I saw my pictures because I borrowed a Nikon from my brother once - the Nikon shots were just clearer, sharper, better.

Now I have a Nikon D70s and I could not be happier!  Get Nikkor lenses, just my opinion - don't get the cheaper ones, you will never regret it.
